Yoshi's debut album 'Hidden Flame' with Hyejin Kim

Dear friends and supporters of the arts,

My name is Yoshi, and I am a Japanese/Australian cellist and professor based in Los Angeles, California.

I am absolutely thrilled to announce that my debut album 'Hidden Flame' will be coming out on March 8, 2024! This endeavour has been a labour of love, a cherished aspiration that is finally coming to life.

'Hidden Flame' is a testament to the remarkable contributions of female composers across centuries. You will find musical gems by Amy Beach, Clara Schumann, Rita Strohl, Nadia Boulanger, and Maria Theresia von Paradis, as well as a world-premiere recording of a new work I commissioned from the incredible composer Reena Esmail. I have been fortunate enough to share this journey with my good friend and pianist extraordinaire, Hyejin Kim, whose dedication and talent have been indispensable (not to mention learning the piano part in the Strohl... it is an absolute monster!) I am also immensely grateful to have collaborated with Judith Sherman, an esteemed figure in the industry and winner of 14 Grammys, whose unparalleled expertise as a producer has brought this project to fruition.

As thrilling as this journey has been, it's unfortunately come with its fair share of expenses. From securing studio time and hiring a recording engineer and producer to navigating the complexities of label arrangements, the financial investment has vastly surpassed my initial estimations.
