Young Husband Hit by a Pickup Truck Downtown Sandpoint

I am creating this GoFundMe for our dear friends Lance and Whitney. Lance was hit by a pickup truck while walking across the street in Sandpoint, ID this week. He is in the ICU with 5 broken ribs, a spinal-sacral fracture, a lacerated kidney and a bruised lung. He is in lots of pain, but thankfully there is no brain damage nor internal bleeding. (Update) It has been several days in the hospital now, as the injuries have made him unable to breathe on his own. It is still excruciatingly painful for him to sit or even lay down due to the broken ribs and the spinal fracture. He's struggling with ambulation, and the emotional trauma is severe. Realizing that If he hadn't jumped upwards upon impact, causing his body to go up onto the hood of the vehicle, he would likely not have survived this accident.

Lance's mother was downtown and saw all of the emergency vehicles, but didn't realize at the time that they were all there for her son! She found out about a half hour later...

Lance and Whitney are a young newlywed couple, and they were already struggling to make ends meet before the accident happened. Now, Lance will be out of work, and Whitney too while she cares for him. Insurance will cover some, but it may take awhile before they receive any money due to the long and drawn out insurance claims process. Meanwhile, they are not sure now how they'll be able to keep up with paying even their regular monthly household bills.
