Young Maccabees: Rallying Against Campus Antisemitism
Donation protected
Founded in the wake of rising antisemitism on college campuses, Young Maccabees is a beacon of courage and determination. In 2024, during a tumultuous time marked by violent protests and challenges to Jewish students' safety, a group of UNC Chapel Hill students decided to take a stand.
Our mission began during an incident where antisemitic protesters targeted our campus, prompting our founders to protect the American flag—a symbol of unity and freedom. This act of bravery was not just about upholding the flag but was a defiant stand against hate and division.
Today, Young Maccabees is more than just a response to antisemitism; it's a movement dedicated to fostering understanding and advocacy through education and dialogue. We want to empower students to start Jewish organizations on college campuses by providing support and funding. Our mission is to create strong Jewish communities, enhance cultural understanding, and combat antisemitism through student-led initiatives.
We invite you to join us in this vital cause. Your involvement can truly make a difference in combating antisemitism and fostering a more inclusive society. Together, we can change the narrative and ensure a safer world for future generations.
