Young sick boy and family grateful for your help

This is Harlan Atkinson.

Harlan is 9years old, a brother to 3 other siblings. He was diagnosed with a rare condition that causes seizures. The seizures are resistant to medication which means a lot of medications do not work. When Harlan has a seizure he stops breathing and requires someone to take over his airway with oxygen and a mask to breathe for him and give him strong medication and call paramedics.

Breakdown from the past week - Harlan has had 8 presentations to hospital, 4 admissions in 7 days, 20 generalised seizures 20 resuscitations multiple 8 code blues.

Harlan has managed to see a piece of Christmas Eve however the rest has resulted in hospital with the family broken up in home and trying to go in between work.

Harlan is still fighting, as always, showing us the most amazing resilience.

Harlan is a wonderful son and brother and brings so much joy, strength and hope to this world.

The main reason for this Go Fund Me is:

To help with ongoing expenses. Harlan now requires 24/7 air conditioning to help regulate his temperature to keep him out of hospital.

Also due to Harlan’s extensive time in hospital, time off work has caused a reduced income.

The family have one last wish to see Harlan’s elderly grandparents who they haven’t been able to see in 4 years. They moved over to seek specialist treatment for Harlan and haven’t been able to afford to go back for a visit and is on Harlan’s bucket list before they are possibly unable to do so as his condition is life limiting.

SCN8A what Harlan has been diagnosed with is what causes Harlans seizures and is life limiting. For Harlan to travel from QLD to WA to see his grandparents is going to take planning and the expense it is going to be expensive. But if we do not try - they will never get there.

It is at this time of year when everyone gets together with family it is noticeable that Harlan would love to see his family.
