Young Stroke Victim: Latoya Henry

Hi, my name is Adreanna Dayton, and I am raising money for my sister and mother. On August 21 this year, my sister had a stroke at 39. The stroke occurred on the left side of her brain, which affected her right arm, leg, and face. In addition to her physical limitations, the stroke has affected her ability to communicate, Aphasia. We are doing our best to ensure she has everything she needs and the best care to recover from this setback with as few long-term effects as possible. However, we are running out of gas financially because of the medical bills and transportation costs. My mother doesn’t drive, but she is trying her best (through Ubers -$490/weekly, and support from family) to get Toya to and from doctor appointments and therapy, which she has three days a week in Bur Ridge. When we contacted the hospital’s social worker about transportation, each company stated that there wasn’t any available from her house to Bur Ridge. My mother is attempting to become employed as Toya’s caregiver officially. My mom's employment would allow us to reroute those funds to assist with transportation. However, the social worker stated it could take months to set it and won’t help us in the immediate future. Any amount you can spare is a blessing.
