On June 4th our hero Dad and husband, Neil, was taken to the emergency room by ambulance. Shortly after being admitted he was moved to ICU where they began running numerous tests. They later discovered he was going into septic shock due to cellulitis in his leg. About cellulitis / About septic shock
There were other complications associated with these so the doctors decided to intubate Neil on June 5th. They continued working to figure out exactly what they were up against and were successful in pinpointing the type of infection and what antibiotics to best treat him. A surgeon was brought in to consult because of how fast the infection was growing upwards towards his hip. Within a few hours, Neil was in his first emergency surgery and surgical debridement was done on the necrotizing tissues. FIVE surgeries later, the surgeons were positive they were able to remove all of the infection.
On June 15th, Neil was extubated. He had no idea what had been done to him or why. In a few days he was moved to a Critical Care hospital where he can focus on recovery and regaining strength. He will receive skin graft surgery soon and will hopefully be moved home in a few weeks to continue healing and recovery of his mobility.
As I'm sure you can imagine, the medical bills are stacking up as well as the cost of living day to day for his family. The start of school is just around the corner and our daughter is going into 3rd grade.
If you can, please donate to help keep the Youngbloods Swimming through life.
And thank you, from the bottom of our hearts ❣️
