My name is Alicia Hashem, I’m Palestinian / American diaspora living in America. My family who resides in Gaza has been displaced several times since 1948. Within the last year, they have once again lost their homes, and are being forced to evacuate over and over into dangerous zones, living in unfathomable conditions. Many families like ourselves are turning to crowdfunding in order to survive and manage. Donation money is transferred directly my cousins in Gaza so they can buy survival necessities including water, food, tents, and medicine. Even $5 helps feed people bread, provide drinking water, and charge cell phones!

Before and After:

This is just a drop in the sea! Palestine is the largest and longest running refugee crisis in the world. From 1948 to the present day, there are over 2 million displaced suffering people. Despite the risk, scrutiny, and inconvenience it causes to acknowledge this disaster, it is morally right to lend a healing hand. I don’t think people truly fathom what it’s like being born into this crisis… Remaining silent or favoring the well-being of one group over another normalizes racism and cruel treatment. We need people and leaders to use privilege and power to uplift families like us- the old fashioned indigenous farmers of the region- who have been deprived of basic human rights for multiple generations. It’s going to be a long process rebuilding life from scratch after all this!
