Donate towards Sri Krishnarpanamastu- The Musical

‘Sri Krishnarpanamastu’ is our earnest yet ambitious project of an Indian musical celebrating the timeless tales of Little Krishna and his boyhood escapades through a family-led, family centric, community-based initiative.

Comfortable and secure in their identities as British-Indians yet wanting to share a strong part of their cultural upbringing, it was an innocent question from 2 siblings as they asked why they could not tell ‘our’ stories the way they did Nativity. That led to the concept of a ‘Krishna play’ even as we wondered- what took us so long?

‘Sri Krishnarpanamastu’ - a phrase the children heard uttered by their grandparents before every meal- is also an ode to the wonderful relationship shared between grandparents and children; a subtle affirmation of the steady influence they continue to have on our children, despite the distances of time and geography.

The idea soon caught on and a group of 20 families, primarily of parents working in sectors from finance to IT to NHS embarked on the joyous task of retelling Krishna's stories in a way that is quintessentially Indian in its essence and execution. Through drama, live music and classical Indian dances by amateurs and semi professional artists, the musical allows each child to truly experience performing in a professional theatre space regardless of backgrounds, beliefs or creative abilities.

This project shifts the focus from practicing to pass grades or certifications to sparking a creative streak and allows both parents and children to discover the joys of bonding over an endeavour they would fondly remember as a family.

Let us take time to recognise and appreciate the ‘Krishna’ in our children, through our children and share the joy they bring - just like Yashoda did through her ‘Little Krishna’.

Why support Us:
We are not an established school or organisation of arts- we are led impromptu by our intentions, interest and instincts and strengthened by our commitment, conviction and credence.

As patrons, your support will help in dispelling preconceived notions, inspire curiosity in a diverse audience rather than alienate communities just by a name perceived to have religious connotations. In a world rife with differences, we could try to bring down some tangible barriers.

As an impactful diaspora, we showcase values that form the bedrock of Sanatana Dharma without screaming about it from roof tops or discussing it in hushed tones. This is an attempt to build bridges and appreciate Krishna as a symbol that builds and celebrates the human spirit of togetherness.
