Youth Soccer Team in Honor of Julio Cesar Patino
Donation protected
In the spirit of giving and the holidays, here we go with my first GoFundMe attempt. As many of you know, my father-in-law passed away in October. One of the things Julio Cesar loved was writing op-eds for the national newspaper in Colombia. His last article, which published a few days before he passed, was about the nurse that cared for him in his final days.
His final article, “Anonymous Heros,” acknowledges and celebrates his nurse who, after long days caring for patients, dedicates and volunteers his time to train [soccer] a large group of kids living in poverty in Ricuarte, Colombia. He talks about the importance of supporting these unsung heroes that dedicate their time to helping guide kids and young adults toward a better future.
This team has no financial resources but a lot of passion (Wrexham, anyone?). So as a tribute to and in memory of Julio Cesar, we are collecting money to give these 36 kids uniforms, shoes and soccer balls so they desperately deserve. A little goes a long way here, so any donation of any size is hugely appreciated!
