Yovanka Sanchez battle against Breast Cancer

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to share some of the most heartbreaking news about my incredible mom, Yovanka Sánchez, who has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer.

 

Yovanka Sanchez is not just my mom; she is the definition of strength, love, and resilience. She has always been there for everyone, selflessly dedicating herself to her family, friends, and me and my brother. Her hardworking spirit, determination, and boundless love have touched so many. My mom is one of the most genuine, loving people you will have ever met. Her production company, La Mariposa Films, which inspires women to speak up and tell their stories, has created many productions such as "The Mother,” which is a short film about an immigrant mother and the sacrifices she makes for the love of her daughter. This is just one of the many productions my mom has produced to inspire women to speak up and tell their stories. My mom is a friend, a sister, and my light in life.

 

As she faces one of the toughest battles against breast cancer, I am inspired by her courage and positivity. She never fails to have a smile on her face despite her situation. Even during the most challenging times, she sticks out her tongue just to make me feel better, even while enduring the discomfort of medical procedures being poked and prodded.

 

I also want this to be a way for others to see that what really matters in life is your health, your family, and being grateful and humble, because many times we get trapped in so many insignificant moments, wasting our valuable time with loved ones. And that one should take into conscious appreciating a beautiful day by being present and enjoying a precious moment that will not come back. Like Forest Gump's mom once said, “Life is like a box of chocolates, and you never know what you're going to get.”
