WATCH THE SHOW HERE

Want to help us save the oceans?

How about a night of music, poetry and other surprises all from the comfort of your own home?

On Sunday the 10th of May,  teams from France and the UK will be working together to put on a Livestream featuring a plethora of talent from all over the world...

And we want you to be a part of it!

'YOU WANT ME!?!'

Yes! We'll be having Poets, Musicians, Comedians, Filmmakers and Storytellers performing live on our stream, all to raise money for the Marine Conservation Society in an effort to help save our oceans.

We'll be taking any and all submissions into consideration whether they be requests to read or perform on the stream live on air, or videos/ pieces you'd like played or performed on your behalf to our audience. We're not asking for anything to be a part of the show, but donations are massively encouraged as we're hoping to reach our goal by the end of May.

(For more details on submitting or performing, scroll down to the SUBMISSION INFO tab at the bottom of this page)

THAT'S GREAT! BUT HOW WILL THIS ALL GO DOWN!?!?

Good question!

The charity stream will be divided into a few sections, starting with our open call performers (you guys!) who we'll organize over the next few weeks.

This will go on for roughly an hour (maybe more) before we move onto our team and their performances, where a couple of great people that we've asked specially to perform, will amaze you with their many talents and give it their all to win those donations.

Finally, we'll be having our headliners!

All will be revealed in time, make sure to follow us here, and on our Facebook page, for updates on just who you'll blown away by!

AND WHO ARE YOU ANYWAY!?!

This project is a 3-way collaboration between Paris Lit Up, Rhys Ashton Tucker
and the Marine Conservation Society.

A bit of info on each:

Paris Lit Up:

Paris Lit Up (PLU) is a non-profit association* based in Paris, France. Founded in 2012, it promotes literature and the arts through local and international community events and publishing. This includes a weekly multilingual open mic (hosted in English), a monthly writing workshop, outreach workshops, arts showcases, annual tours around Europe, artist residencies and collaborations with like-minded groups. PLU also produces an annual magazine and other publications in order to showcase work from the immediate community and farther afield.

Our philosophy

PLU is not one person: it is a network of talented volunteers from around the world. We celebrate diversity, fostering spaces where people of any gender, sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, creed, level of ability, and physical appearance will feel welcome, respected, and safe. This is our perspective as caring people; it is also our position as artists. Creative and original art flourishes best in textured, polyphonic environments—compassion and encouragement inspires artistic communities to bloom.

Rhys Ashton Tucker:

Rhys is an event producer from the UK with a rich background in the arts, which has lead to a so-far successful career promoting and hosting artists from all over the UK in poetry, music and even live painting events.

A good friend of PLU, having worked with them before the Dive In 1.0 last year, Rhys is determined to blow every other poetry livestream out of the - ahem - 'water'...

Needless to say he'll be punished for that awful pun,  but regardless of that we'll be seeing a lot of him as our host for the show, and we might even see a little bit of his own poetry on the night as well...

The Marine Conservation Society:

Taken from their website:
We believe too much is being taken out and too much is being put into our seas. Our scientists, campaigners, volunteers, advocates, data experts, fundraisers, divers and researchers are all passionate about creating a sustainable future for our seas.

(and just in case you were wondering, they gave us this fancy sticker to prove we have permission to do this on their behalf <3)

(No PNG makes Rhys a dull boy who won't include it on his nice poster)

Why are we doing this together/ how did we meet?

As much as we'd like to tell you it was over a candle-lit dinner in Paris, the truth is we're just good friends who met from sharing work and art over the internet with each other and eventually built up to a point where we wanted to create all new events to share each other's local arts-culture across the seas and collaborate with new people from all over the world.

Initially we wanted to do this live, we had a venue booked, plane tickets and everything so that we could meet in Bristol for a massive one night only show, but sadly Covid-19 killed those dreams and now we've chosen to adapt our original plan in a bid to still raise money for the cause many of us hold so dear to our hearts.

I'M IN, BUT WHERE IS MY MONEY GOING!?!

£50 is going towards our headlining artists and £11.99 will be usee for operating costs for the stream. (£61.99 total, reduced from our original £75 cut after a headliner dropped out).

Every penny after that will go towards the Marine Conservation Society, which we have chosen due to their incredible track record with the protection and support for the oceans which have been ravaged with pollution and abused by humans for many years.

Here's a video where you can see some of their wonderful work in action:

In a time where the world seems increasingly divided and isolated than ever, we believe that this is a cause absolutely everyone can get behind.

SUBMISSION INFO

If you'd like to perform, email Rhys at [email redacted] with some contact information as well as a breakdown of exactly what you'd like to perform/have performed/ have played on the stream (if it's a video or other content already finished, send it or a link to it in the email and Rhys will take a look before getting back to you about the best way to present it!). Open submission slots will be capped at absolute max 10 minutes for the sake of keeping the stream concise, and though we'll aim to try and give everyone a slot, we'll have to be a bit pickier if we get too many submissions...

so if you're not chosen please don't be offended!
