Support for the Schell Family

As many of you Shane Schell was in a terrible accident on November 20, 2016. Shane was transported by ambulance to Edson Hospital and then airlifted by helicopter to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta.
It was determined that Shane had fractured his sternum as well as sustained fractures in three of his thoracic vertebrae. The spinal team took Shane in for surgery and placed multiple metal rods to stabilize his spine and protect his spinal cord.
As you can imagine this was an extremely stressful time for their family as everyone gathered to support them in Edmonton.
Depsite a turbulent hospital stay he was discharged after a week after surgery and they were excited to start the road to recovery at home in Edson.
Their time at home was cut short following Shane's first appointment for follow-up with the spinal surgeon.  Shane's incision on his back burst open revealing a terrible post-op infection tunnelling into Shane's back.
Shane returned to the Royal Alex Hospital Dec. 7/16 and underwent 2 more surgeries to clean out the infections. Danielle and Shane were optimistic and hopeful to return home in time for Christmas and their wish was granted on December 23rd. Finally back to some sense of normalcy . The kids returned to school and acitivities while Danielle helped to provide care at home to Shane which included mutliple IV antibiotics and other medications to battle infection.
Both Danielle and  Shane were optimistic the worst was behind them , however at Shane's  most recent follow-up appointment in Edmonton on January 9th, 2017 their worst fears were revealed and Shane was again readmitted to the hospital for surgery that same day and again on January 12, 2017 where they decided the infection was now in Shane's bone and the metal rods in Shane's back had to also be removed.
This story has been a nightmare for them as their family has been uprooted staying in Edmonton. Shane has endured extremepain and suffering inlcluding 5 surgeries thus far.
Despite this, Shane and Danielle have kept an upbeat and positive attitude. They have been so touched by the kindness extended to them thus far by friends and family.
They have refused help multiple times from multiple friends and family. Stating they are too proud or that others are worse off than them. But with this battle going on for almost 2 months we have coerced them, albeit reluctanly, to accept some help from those that have so graciously offered.
Currently Danielle is juggling between Edson and Edmonton to allow James to attend school as he has missed so much already. More surgeries and a lenghty hospital stay are required before Shane can go home again.
Anyone who knows Shane, has experienced his kindness and willingness to help friends and family. No job is too big or too small and his door is always open with hospitality.
Thank you to everyone who has been praying and thinking of  their family during this time.

Let's help to ease their worries at this difficult time.
Thanks everyone and God Bless!
