Arizona's fearless fight

Arizona is a sweet and kindly spirited 9 year old.  She is a beautiful, brave, silly and loving girl who poses the most infectious smile you will ever see. I am Arizona's auntie and she is my late brother's daughter. Arizona's journey began a couple months ago when she became very sick. She was unable to tolerate eating and keeping her food down. Over the next several weeks she began to lose a lot of weight. Her mom became increasingly worried and sought medical attention for Arizona. Sharice, Arizona's mom, was never given a definitive medical diagnosis other than some type of "tummy issues". Arizona's condition continued to deteriorate and by now had lost approximately 20lbs and was experiencing dizzy spells. On September 27th, 2020 Sharice brought Arizona to the Stollery Hospital where she strongly advocated for her daughter and was not leaving until the doctors knew exactly what was causing Arizona's symptoms.  A MRI was completed and it revealed the most devastating and heartbreaking news a parent never wants to hear.  They had discovered a brain tumour and Arizona required surgery.On September 30th 2020, Arizona underwent brain surgery.  Most of the tumour was removed but there were parts embedded in her brain stem which were to risky to remove. At this time, the next steps in Arizona's journey is unknown as we wait for biopsy results.  Sharice is the most loving and caring mother you will ever meet. Sharice has not left Arizona's side since being admitted to Stollery.  She has two other beautiful children who also need their mom. Words can not describe what Sharice is going through at this time.
