Alexanders Eagle Project

My name is Alexander Escalante, and my eagle project will be based on building 8 planters boxes with an irrigation system at the 4-H club at crystal spring farm. 4-H is a youth development program serving youth and teens in California counties through traditional after-school clubs. My sister is a 4-h member; 4-H is a program that has many projects that children can participate and gardening is one of them. For many months the San Mateo/Burlingame 4-H club has been wanted to build new garden planters. So one day I met with the beneficiary and he mention to me that the club wanted to build new planters and make their garden better, it caught my attention and I asked him if it was ok do my eagle project in the 4-H garden. In our conversation, he mention to me that the club would like to build 8 planter boxes made of redwood due to its long duration. The purpose of redwood boxes is for children to be able to plant different kinds of fall and winter vegetables and teach them different techniques about gardening. Also, the purpose of building these planters is to be able to recycle all the waste and shavings from animals that are being raised at the farm and eventually turn it into compost and used on the new
planter.
