Hi, my name is Erika and I'm setting up a gofundme in memory of my mum, Rachael. My mum died on the 27.03.25 very suddenly and very unexpectedly. No one saw it coming. I'm sure not even she did. We as a family are devastated and heartbroken and due to her sudden death, we do not have the funds needed to provide any kind of goodbye.
That being said, I have received a few offers from people stating that they would like to donate towards the funeral, and so to make it easier, I thought this would be the best way so all donations are in one place.
The money raised will go directly towards the cost of her funeral, which will be a private service funeral to accommodate my mum's wish of a funny and entertaining goodbye. The money raised will also go towards her cremation in which she had said was always the way she wanted to be laid to rest. However, if given her way she would be having a viking funeral where we would be pushing her out to sea and setting her alight with a lit arrow. So to make it legal, we met in the middle and decided a cremation would be the best we could do, haha.
I know plenty of people loved my mum for her outspoken ways and for the fact she broke her back to ensure everyone's happiness in their time of need. She was the one to make you laugh with her 50 different laughs. She would make you feel less alone even when she had given up on herself and the world. She took on children who were not hers and gave them a bed and hot food when needed. She made sure her grandchildren were always provided for and wanted for nothing. She went hungry some days to feed everyone and she done what she needed to to get the results she wanted from things. She was fun, always up for a laugh and to do something stupid. She was the type of person to let children draw on her laminated floors when there was no paper and tip glitter everywhere. She was the type of person who would see the fun in children sliding down a flight of stairs on a single mattress. She was the type of person who always started the flour or food fights. She was the type of person who visited you for you and not for how your home looked. She was the type of person who had your back when no one else would.
And so for all these reasons, I believe she deserves the funny and entertaining funeral she dreamt of.
Any donations will be deeply appreciated, and please as always, only donate if you can, because I know my mum wouldn't want anyone to break the bank for her x
