Sri Lankan Street Dogs

Hi all, I’m Rebecca an average kind of person working full time and in the never ending rat race. That aside I was fortunate to visit Sri Lanka this year, and during my travels there I was struck by the number of strays and the shocking conditions of these dogs, truly heartbreaking to see, to the point I started taking food and water out with me to feed them. On my journey I was fortunate to meet Hansika, when I was feeding some dogs. We talked and she told me her life on top of her day job was to daily go out and feed the dogs in her village . She explained the difficulties with multiple breading of dogs which in turn has ment the population of strays has exploded. Many suffering mange, a awful disease and suffering by the road sides.

i have become friends with Hansika and I am sending what I can to her every month to enable her to take dogs to the vets to be spayed and treated for mange. I have photos of the dogs she has helped from the funds I have sent her. I am reaching out to see if with others kindness we may be an able to effect small change - more than what we can do on our own. I wish I had the funds to do more and may be that will be possible but for now I am hoping by reaching out to others they may feel my compassion and help - thank you
