The history and preservation of the West End Golf Course, as a public green space, was decided on when the 75-acre property on Newberry Road was zoned Recreational in the Alachua County Land Use Plan 2019 out to 2040. It is an anchor and centerpiece for the community and is a unique historical and valuable green space.

With the already dense residential developments along Newberry Road, the conversion of the West End Golf Course to another high-density development would destroy this Recreational green space and quality of life for not only the surrounding communities but all the communities west of I-75 to the City of Newberry.

This property zoning should remain Recreational so it can be used for a play-ground, walking and biking trails, golf and other recreational activities that benefit everyone.
