The Hearts of Men Foundation, Inc. is a 501 c3 organization focused on advancing the lives of teenagers in the field of education, human services, and the arts. Through multiple services, projects and programs, the foundation has touched over 1,200 youth. The Hearts of Men Foundation, Inc. also provides mentoring to "at risk" teens through our MAN Up, Trouble to Triumph, Pen-To-Pencil Program,and Job Shadowing programs. Service projects and providing support to teens and familes are integral parts of our program. We offer education assistance to youth thats focuses on redirected previously incarcerated youth to high schools, college, armed services, gainful employment, and services to others.
The MAN-UP (Men Accepting Neophytes and Uplifting Pupils) provides one-on-one mentoring to teens based on desired goals and need. MAN-UP offers mentoring Seminars on conflict resolution, anger management, communication skills, resisting peer pressure, and proper study habits.
The Trouble to Triumph Program supports at-risk teens who have been incarcerated, expelled or suspended from traditional schools. The program consists of communication and organizational skills, conflict resolution, relationship building and developing solid study habits. Students completing the program are awarded certificates.
The Pen-To-Pencil program provides youth with opportunities to complete General Education Development Diploma (GED), high school diplomas online, creative writing courses, and teen book clubs. The Hearts of Men Foundation Creative Writing Course curriculum is a favorite among the teens. The curriculum includes:
The Art of Commercial Fiction ---Have you ever dreamed of being a writer? This eight part course will give you a glimpse of a writing career and the life of a writer. You'll be immersed in creative exercises that stretch your ability to write, envision possibilities, and overcome writer's block. You'll be able to participate in stimulating class discussions that validate the writing process. The tips, techniques, and advice are invaluable as you discover the right niche for your work. Also, you'll be instructed by some of the countries most successful writers.
Screenwriting ----How do you write a screenplay that might get bought by studio or a production company? Write a compelling script that’s impossible to stop reading, vividly cinematic, properly formatted, and realistically produce-able. Our screenwriting courses will help you meet these criteria, and also guide you in creating characters, building plots, shaping scenes, sharpening dialogue, and, of course, peddling your script. Whether you seek to write big Hollywood movies or low-budget indies, we’ll show you what it takes to get in the screenplay game.
Stage Plays ---From high-budget Broadway productions to small-town summer theater, exciting things happen when you get involved with theater of any sort. And the playwright is at the center of it all.
The Hearts of Men Foundation Teen Book Club promotes literacy through a variety of ways. One of our most popular program is the Teen Book Club. We meet once a month to discuss the novel chosen by one of the teen members. Statistics show that teens who read for pleasure are far less likely to commit crimes and are more likely to further their own education. These once a month book club sessions are also round table discussions about life and how it often imitates art. The programs also emphasize basic skills such as reading, writing, and problem-solving.

Further, partnerships with other non-profit organizations help to consistently provide school supplies, school and work cothing, and tuition assistance in connection with before and after school programs. Additionally, the foundation competes in the community sponsored events.
