On June 8th, Angela Shymanski and her 5 year old daughter Lexi, and 10 week old baby Peter, where in a terrible car crash. Angela's car veered down a 40 foot embankment outside Jasper, AB. Angela was unconscious, and heroic daughter Lexi, barefooted climbed the embankment, to summon help and save her mother's life. The three were airlifted to Edmonton for a 19 day hospital stay. Angela broke her back in two spots, and needed CPR, causing further broken bone. She underwent surgery to repair internal bleeding and had some organs removed. She is now confined to a wheelchair. 10 week old Peter underwent Neurosurgery, to alleviate swelling of his brain. Amazingly Lexi came out with only scratches! The family has now returned home, and is facing the realities of a new life. There is a loss of income from Angela's job as a swim instructor, and the B&B she ran out of their home. Husband Travis is off of work to provide around the clock care to Angela and the kids, as Angela's condition prevents her from being able to hold her baby. Additionally, the family will need to make trips to Edmonton for medical follow up, as that is where their Doctors and Specialists are located. The family has amazing support from family, friends, and their congregation, but is still in need of financial assistance. If you can, please help to alleviate this burden, so they can focus on healing inside and out.
