Aaron Kauron Walker Jr Memorial Fund
Greetings,
My name is Aisha Pope and I can't believe I am doing this AT ALL! A parent's worst nightmare is to have to bury a child. And what makes this most heartbreaking is I did not have the chance to say goodbye because I didn't know God was going to call my miracle baby home. On Wednesday, June 30th, Aaron went to visit his sister at Reside Apartments in Lansing Michigan with plans to go swimming in the apartment pool along with his sister and niece. At approximately 8:40 pm, Aaron entered the pool and suddenly started taking in water and panicked. He was unable to get out the pool and ended up at the deeper end where he went under and did not resurface. Carmen Ayala who lives in the same complex was sleeping on her couch when she heard loud screaming. She quickly ran to the pool and jumped in to assist Aaron. She couldn't get him out alone and thankfully, an unknown man jumped in as well and together they got Aaron out. EMS worked to get Aaron back but he didn't have an heartbeat for 28 minutes. Aaron was rushed to McLaren hospital and then transferred to Sparrow hospital to the pediatric ICU. Unfortunately, Aaron is on day 5 in a vegetative state. The doctors gave us the final blow on Friday. The EEG showed zero brain activity. Now I am not only devastated but have to plan a funeral for my 13 year old son. I don't have the financial means to bury my son because never in a million years did I think I would have to. Aaron was an awesome son, grandson, brother, cousin, nephew, and uncle. Aaron was unaware that I had received his final report card the day before and had gotten a 3.0. His dad, Aaron Sr had planned to tell him and celebrate with him on that fateful day. Aaron was struggling in school and had vowed to work hard to get good grades, and he did just that. Aaron was my LIFE. God gave him to me for 13 years and now he needs him back. My dear sweet baby will truly be missed. Aaron Sr and I will be making the final arrangements for our son. We thank you in advance from the depths of our hearts for all the prayers and support during this extremely and incomprehensible time. All proceeds will be going to Bank of America via Go Fund Me.
Thanks so much,
Pope and Walker Family
