Hi my name is Mariposa and I have known Crystal Glynn for our whole lives. She had her second child, a little boy today and she and Matt are in Grand Junction with him at this time. He needed to be air transported to Grand Junction from Montrose CO for breathing issues. Fortunately, all are well now but tired! The family could use help to pay for pricey medical costs and for gas and food.

Hazen Sterling Sandoval

Crystal went into labor in the early morning hours last Saturday, 8/5/2023. At just 35 weeks, we all thought these might be Braxton Hicks contractions. Contractions got more intense and closer together, so Matt and Crystal hopped in the truck in hopes to make it all the way to Grand Junction. They barely made it to the Montrose hospital, pulling in at 7:00 am, and the baby boy was born just 4 minutes later.

Because Hazen was so premature, his lungs had not fully developed to be able to breathe on his own. He was quickly put on a CPAP machine that uses mild air pressure to keep his airways open and assist with his breathing. The Denver Children’s Hospital was called to assist with his air transport to the Grand Junction NICU. They have been in the NICU now for 6 days. Hazen now is learning to breastfeed and bottle feed, while being supported by gavage (tube feeding). They are supplementing Crystal’s breast milk with extra calories to help him grow big and strong. He likes to poop in fresh diapers and loves cuddles. He is doing very well. At this point he is considered a Grower/Feeder, meaning he needs to grow a bit and learn to feed on his own before he can go home. Hazen will likely be in the NICU for another week before he figures everything out. We will keep you updated on his progress!
