Meet The Family
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Danielle and this is my husband Emmanuel. We first met in Rwanda in 2008 and I knew the moment we met, that we would be married. Not that I was happy about that, or that it was an easy journey (VERY long story), but five years later in 2013, we finally tied the knot. Since that time, we've been living and doing ministry together in Rwanda. Because of many circumstances (crazy government visa restrictions, funds, etc.), we have never traveled to the U.S. together, nor has my husband met any of my family; just a few friends who have traveled here to Rwanda. We are here in Rwanda because we know this is where God has called us to be and live and have been praying and believing faithfully that the time will come when God will align all the circumstances and make a way for us to visit friends and family in the U.S. We believe that time has come now.
I learned, only a few days ago, that many relatives on my dad's side of the family are getting together for an impromptu family reunion over Thanksgiving. My mom, sisters, spouses and kids plus so many more are traveling to Arizona to be together. When I heard this I knew that this was exactly the right time. All my dad's living siblings will be there with their kids (and grandkids), plus my 85+ year-old grandmother is also traveling from New York to be there. This may be the last time I, and the only time my husband, may get to see her. It's hard for me to imagine I have ever desired something so much as I want to be with these people on Thanksgiving. Again, I truly sense in my spirit, that God is telling us to move forward, so here we are. There is only one real obstacle in the way: money.
So here we are. No, neither of us has cancer. No, we don't need support because we lost a parent or spouse. No, this is no great, grand cause that will change the world for the better, it just may be something that will bring incredible joy to a lot of lives, mine and my husband's to say the least. So we are asking everyone we know, and well, probably, A LOT of people we don't know, to give. If you feel in your heart that you would like to support us, we are humbled, and eternally grateful.
Ah, yes, what will the funds be for? The roundtrip airfare for both of us is about $4200 and the rest is to help us pay our own expenses while there, and of course bring stuff back home to Rwanda. If any of you have lived overseas, you know how you yearn for the day that visitors come with much needed (and desired) items that you cannot get in your home country.
Friends (and strangers), we thank you for taking the time to read this and contribute (if you are able). For those not able to give financially, hey, we can use all the prayer we can get. When I think about how much we need to raise in the amount of time we have (oh about three weeks at the most!), I feel like I'm standing at the bottom of Mt. Everest. But I also know that my God created Mt. Everest and he knows every single step that can get me to the top and over and I believe that He will do exactly that. So God bless you, dear friends and thank you for your support.
