HistFest is a dynamic festival that celebrates the brightest and the best in the world of history. Set up in 2018 to fill a very real gap in the way histories were being delivered, the festival corrects the decades-long lack of proper representation of women and people of colour in public history. With speakers from the worlds of television, academia, archaeology and the arts we cover myriad histories and explore the ways in which the past has shaped the present.
Previous speakers have included David Olusoga, Janina Ramirez, Anita Rani, E L James, Suzannah Lipscomb, Anita Anand, Olivette Otele, Greg Jenner, Sunny Singh, Susie Dent, Deborah Harkness and Mike Leigh, to name just a few.
This year, HistFest 2020 takes the theme of Passion and Power and, over the course of three days, will entertain and educate, featuring an eclectic mix of talks, panels, live performances and workshops.
But we need your help.
Due to the outbreak of coronavirus, we have had to postpone the scheduled festival weekend, which has had an impact on our sponsors, advertising and other crucial sources of funding. Not to mention unavoidable outgoings for services that have been paid in advance.
Yet, this is not a sad story. We are delighted to say that we will be rescheduling the festival and hope that it can now take place from 19th to 20th September 2020. To deliver all of the above and more, we are asking for your support. Every single donation will go towards delivering a festival and events that are not only sustainable, but fun, thought-provoking, educational and inspiring for all.
