Please help the Hernandez Family

Hi, my name is Katherine Hernandez and my husband Javier and I are trying to raise funds for his brother and family - my brother-in-law Carlos, his wife Mandy and their four beautiful children - the Hernandez family.

Last Wednesday, February 1, Carlos was in a devastating tractor-trailer accident. After hours of first responders relentlessly trying to free Carlos from his crushed truck cabin, Carlos was airlifted to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Carlos required immediate surgery on his legs. At this moment in time, we are unsure if/when Carlos will be able to walk again.

We are blessed that Carlos is alive and his children, ages 2, 3, 14 and 18, still have their father. But the road to recovery will be agonizing, seemingly never-ending, and, as you can imagine, extremely expensive.

Carlos is expected to be in the hospital for at least a few months and will need additional surgeries, plus lengthy rehabilitation to hopefully regain his ability to walk. Carlos is the sole provider for his family. Now his wife, Mandy, is left with a tremendous amount of stress and worry for her husband’s health, plus continuing to care for their young children while also traveling back and forth to/from the hospital which is about an hour away from their home. All we want is for Carlos to focus on getting better. But right now, his focus is on his family and the worries about the hardship these next few months will bring.

We are hoping to raise funds to help them in this time of crisis, so Carlos can focus on his health knowing his family is being taken care of. Anything donated will help with his medical expenses that his employer doesn’t cover and allow Mandy to pay the bills and continue to care for their children and Carlos.
