Wright Family Needs Help After Fire
Donation protected
Here is a local tragedy for San Pedro. Sometime in the post-4th of July early morning Sunday hours, the family hears breaking glass. A bag is seen on the floor before the apartment catches fire. All is lost except what matters: the lives of the family. A mother, a father, two 11 year-old twin boys, and a little 4 year-old boy. And an even smaller dog. Even still, can you imagine one day losing everything you own? Can you imagine five people and a dog living in a one room motel room while they try to figure out what just happened? How they'll ever recover?
We can imagine it, so Neighborhood Watch and the community want to help. We want to raise enough money so that the Wright family can afford to rent another apartment. Six thousand dollars is a modest amount - but it's enough for first month's rent, a security deposit, and it's perhaps enough to purchase replacement beds and furniture. If we're lucky, perhaps we can exceed that amount.
Please help this family in need. Even the smallest amount matters.
Donations will be accepted (July 11 at 10:00 am to July 12 at 3:00 pm) at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church which is also raising money to help the family.
The church will also accept cash donations or GIFT CARDS as well. We are holding off on taking furniture donations until the family finds a new place to stay.
For those who would like to donate items, the family will need toiletries and clothing. Here are the sizes:
For the 11 year-old twin boys: shirt size is 10 to 12 (or small), pants sizes are both 12, and shoes size is 5.5.
For the 4- year-old boy: 5T and shoe size is 1.5
The mom is size 9 to 10 (medium shirt size) and shoe is 10.5.
The dad is an extra large shirt, size 38 pants, and a 10.5 shoe.
Additionally, the South Bay Alliance Church will also take in donations for the Wright Family. They're located at 2201 S Leland St, San Pedro, CA 90731. Here are the days and hours that people can drop off:
Sundays: 11:00 - 12:30
Tue and Wed: 10:00 - 12:00
Fridays: 10:00 - 12:00, 2:00 - 5:00 and 7:30 - 9:00 pm
