Hello! I am Erick Avila, a 34-year-old Honduran diagnosed on September 23, 2019 with ACUTE MYELOID LEUKEMIA (AML), my diagnosis was in Costa Rica, I managed to pass all my chemotherapy process and I was able to cleanse my marrow of cancer. In the month of March 2020, I was discharged with scheduled check-ups, for 5 months my body does not present the presence of cancer; So I want to return to Honduras with my family, in the month of September of this year they detect a relapse of cancer, so I begin to treat myself here in Honduras because due to the current pandemic I cannot return with my brothers to Costa Rich to perform compatibility tests and perform the ocea marrow transplant, the doctor who sees me at the Hospital Escuela de Honduras suggests that I return to Costa Rica since here they cannot give me more than paleative care, I want to live, I want to continue next to my two sons Bryan, 7 years old and Johann, 1 year old. Now what prevents me from traveling to Costa Rica are the closed borders via land, the only way to travel is by air and I do not have the necessary resources to make the trip and continue with the medical procedure, I need to arrive in January in Costa Rica and continue with the procedures for a bone marrow transplant, that is why I am forced to request help, since my body is needing more often blood and platelet transfusions, many people have already donated units of blood and on occasions they have denied me the transfusions, so it is urgent for me to travel together with my wife and my two children, one of them is Costa Rican and that allows me to reach that country because of the direct link we have with my son.
I want to express that my only wish is to travel and undergo the appropriate treatment to receive a bone marrow transplant and continue living, in Honduras there is no team and doctors who can perform this type of transplant, I appreciate every collaboration that you give me and I pray that God bless every noble heart.
I attach photos of my process and diagnoses of cancer as well as a last hemogram.
