Help Jennifer Heal
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kate and I am fundraising for Jennifer McCoy. It took a lot to convince her to let me do this as she has never been one to ask for help, but she needs us now so let's help her heal.
For those who don't know Jennifer personally, she has worked as a self employed hairstylist for the last 16 years, but to a lot of people, she is more than just a hairstylist. She's made people feel better about themselves for almost 2 decades. She has helped clients through their good times and bad, cheering them on and being a shoulder to cry on. So much so that she feels like they are more than clients, they are friends and family. She has been there for people when they have needed her the most and now she needs our help.
Jennifer has fought with uterine fibroid tumors for the past 13 years. Since having her son, Ellis, in 2013, it has only gotten worse. At times it was difficult for her to walk or stand, and has caused her to become anemic due to the tumors. After lots of discussions with her husband, Brandon, and a heartbreaking miscarriage, they decided that Jennifer has suffered enough. As much as they wanted to add to their family, it was decided that it was time to be thankful for the miracle child they had and have a hysterectomy.
The hysterectomy was originally scheduled, but then cancelled due to pandemic guidelines. Until she was able to have surgery, she was put on medicine to control her symptoms. The medicine is now causing other severe side effects and surgery is a must and ASAP. She is scheduled for her hysterectomy on Monday, December 12th.
This is where the help comes in. As you know, Jennifer has her business, Iris, and will need help taking care of the bills so she can heal. Because she is self-employed, she has no paid time off and she wasn't left with much time to prepare for having to be out for surgery. On top of this, 2 weeks prior to her scheduled surgery, she contracted COVID , which kept her out of work, then found out two days after contracting COVID that her husband, Brandon, is losing his job (and health insurance) at the end of this year. Any follow-up appointments that Jennifer will have will be paid out of pocket.
Again, it took a lot to convince Jennifer to let me create this GFM for her, but I knew that her people would want to help her through this difficult time, especially since she has helped us through all of ours throughout the years.
Any and all donations are greatly appreciated.
