Lindsey’s story
In late September 2019 Lindsey at the young age of 31 got the worse news a young mother of 2 would want to hear “you have breast cancer”. That is when this terrible journey started. The doctors wanted to start with some aggressive chemo before surgery. So every 21 days for 6 treatments she received chemotherapy, but the treatments also would cause electrolytes to be off so along with that she was receiving IV magnesium. Once these treatments were done it was the journey of a lumpectomy which Lindsey choose this surgical option due to being so young and the type of cancer. Surgery went well they removed the lump along with multiple lymph nodes and healing went as planned. Lindsey then started radiation treatments every day for 6 weeks and also a less aggressive chemotherapy. This went well until May of 2020 when she ended up with radiation burn causing her incision site to get infected. Lindsey ended up in the hospital for a week receiving IV antibiotics. (Remember May 2020 was mid-COVID so she was alone away from all family including her 6 year old girl and 9 year old son). Once the infection healed she was able to continue with chemotherapy. December 2020 Lindsey received her last chemotherapy treatment! Yay right?! Well yeah treatment is done, but the worry is there. So in March 2021 she went for her scans there is an area on the right THEY ARE CURRENTLY watching now. Lindsey decided at that time it was just too hard to always worry so has now chosen to have a mastectomy and then they rebuild the breast with your own tissue. The doctors also felt Lindsey should have her ovaries removed due to the hormones so May 2021 she had that surgery. Lindsey is scheduled for her mastectomy June 4th in St. Cloud. Through all of this she has not asked for any financial assistance or help at all, so we as her family and friends have decided it’s time we just step in and help out with some of the medical costs along with bills and travel expenses due to being out of work, her husband and kids having to stay in a hotel during her surgeries in St. Cloud, and also during the tough time during COVID. Thank you all in advance for any help you are able to give.
