Yulabi School Build, Papua New Guinea 2020

Since being founded by Ian Middleton in 2013, the Lik Lik Skul (pidgin for ‘small school’) Foundation has been changing the lives of young people in Papua New Guinea by providing them with a place to learn. 

The foundation has built over 13 classrooms across 8 hard to reach locations, supporting the education of over 500 primary school children to date. We also provide learning resources and advocate for primary education, recognising that education empowers people to make better decisions about their future. 

This year we will spend 4 days (March 2 to 5) building a classroom in Western Province’s Yulabi Village. Lik Lik Skul is run 100% by volunteers. Building materials are donated by our generous sponsors, and a team of skilled builders from Australia volunteer their time, working with the community to build quality classrooms.

All donations will go directly towards this year’s build, covering the cost of logistics and travel expenses to reach the remote Yulabi Village.

Funds will be withdrawn directly by Abt Associates and used to cover the travel and logistics costs for the build. Any leftover funds will be transferred to the LikLik Skul Foundation and used for maintenance of existing classrooms, and potentially for a future build.
