As you may know there is a serious movement going on at Standing Rock Reservation in North Dakota. People are standing up to protect our waters but really it's about much more than that. It's about standing up for our human rights, to have our voices heard and to create a new paradigm where all people can live together and co-create in harmony no matter our differences. May we reconnect to our role as stewards & protectors of the land we call home.
I encourage you to get informed about what is going on & how you can help; knowledge is power. We all have the ability to influence & create change! The more of us that are informed the better.

We, Ken of Two Girls Yurts based in Acworth NH, and Gina, are gathering a team of people committed to building yurts at Standing Rock North Dakota this December for three weeks. The two of us were out at the reservation in November to start the building process. We are building 25 foot yurts, able to sleep approximately 15 people and to be heated with Temp Wood stoves. Four or five yurts are already in process, and we hope to build more. They are well equipped for the cold weather and windy conditions. The yurts will be utilized so that they have the greatest opportunity for positive impact. This includes but is not limited to providing shelter for medical clinics and schools. The priority is to provide adequate warmth and shelter to support the water protectors though a harsh and bitter North Dakota winter. The yurts we intend to build will provide much needed respite from the conditions so that they can continue holding their ground against the construction of the pipeline.
People will be donating their time & energy but we could use help with the cost of supplies. Supplies include:
Canvas, for the yurt "skin": $1K per rolls, we'll need at least 6 rolls
Firewood
Temp Wood Stoves
Tools: splitting maul, chainsaws (husqvarna or stihl or jonsred only please) plus fuel, oil & bar oil, spare chain & maintenance tools, battery drills with batteriers & chargers, draw knives, pull saw, hatchet, sharpening stones & files, shovels, jet sleds, fuel & fuel containers for generator

Our goal is to be as self sustainable as possible so as not to tax the camp resources. Winter has come. We also hope to leave as many tools & supplies that would be of use at camp when we leave.
