Memorial Bench in Loving Memory of Judy (Fava) Musumeci

The purpose of this fundraiser is to raise sufficient funds to purchase and install a memorial bench in loving memory of Judith (Judy Fava) Musumeci.

Judy Musumeci tragically lost her life in an overnight fire at her apartment in New Rochelle NY on March 31, 2022. The news story can be found at this link . This bench will serve as a peaceful and lasting tribute to Judy, offering a place of rest and reflection for all who visit it.

The memorial bench will be permanently placed on the church grounds at St. John's Lutheran Church located at 122 Fenimore Rd., Mamaroneck NY (link). Judy was a beloved church parishioner and was actively involved in many church activities. This memorial bench will be a meaningful way to celebrate her life and legacy. It will provide a place where friends, family, and churchgoers can sit, reflect, and feel a connection to Judy in the serene surroundings of the church grounds.

The bench will be the “Hyde Park” style and will be constructed of 100% premium teak wood to blend in with the other benches at this church. The bench will display a heavyweight commemorative cast bronze plaque with Judy’s name on the backrest. Purple flowering evergreen azaleas will be planted on both the left and right sides of the bench. The teak construction of the bench should allow it to last at least 50 years while fully exposed to the outdoor weather.

The bench will be placed in a scenic location on the east side of the church grounds overlooking Harbor Island Park and the West Basin of Mamaroneck Harbor where Judy much enjoyed spending time with her friends. The bench, with its sweeping views of the park and harbor, will allow those who knew her to take time and reflect on the memories and good times spent with her.

Our goal is to raise $2,000 by September 30th, 2024. Donations of any amount are sincerely appreciated. Your contribution, no matter the amount, will help us achieve our goal and ensure that Judy’s memory is honored in a beautiful and lasting way.

100% of all funds raised above and beyond the cost of the memorial bench, plaque, and shrubs will be donated to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Judy’s name for the sole purpose of deferring some of the church’s general expenses.

We will keep everyone updated on the progress and will announce a dedication ceremony at the church once the bench is in place.
