My brother's battle with cancer

My name is Fiona Hernandez and I am a senior in high school. My brother Aidan was diagnosed with sarcoma, a form of cancer in the bones and soft tissues in December of 2018. He had just started his first year of high school and he absolutely loved it.  His whole life completely changed when he found out he had cancer. My family and I were shocked and didn’t know how we were going to cope with this. My brother has felt a mix of emotions. There are some days where he feels confident and hopeful and other days he feels anger and sadness. As his older sister, I have always been there to protect and care for him. I never thought I would ever have to see my brother go through so much pain and suffering.

Dealing with my brother’s diagnosis has also caused my family to struggle financially. My mother is no longer working and is on family leave from work. It’s hard for me to see my mom stressing and crying over how she can support me and my brother. Moreover, it will also be another financial burden for my mom to help me pay for my first year of college in August. I am doing this GoFundMe page to help my mom pay for the medical bills, my tuition for college, and living expenses. I want to thank anyone who is willing to contribute and support for my family during this strenuous time.
