Climb for the Kids
You can help put a smile on the face of a child fighting cancer!
Colorado, the mountains and raising money for children and teens fighting cancer.
What could be better?
On Saturday, July 27th, my climbing buddy Steve Jackson and I are going to reach for the peak of Mt. Elbert, the tallest mountain in Colorado (14,439 ft.) to raise money for children and teens fighting cancer!
I estimate we will take about 40,000 steps round trip during this climb. Can we share this with the world and raise $1 for every step we take? Your support will help buy a lot of toys for these kids to help them smile during this difficult time in their lives.
100% of the proceeds will provide toys, gifts and gift cards to children and teens fighting cancer all across the nation by means of The Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation. Any amount that you can contribute will be welcome and go a long way to help Put a Smile on the Face of a Child Fighting Cancer!
When I was seven years old I was diagnosed with childhood leukemia. I didn't know what cancer was but I certainly knew I was scared. One morning when I was supposed to go to the hospital for treatment, I hid from my mom and exclaimed, "I'm not going anymore!" She could see how confused and frightened I was. So she devised a plan. The next time I was scheduled for treatment my mom came into my room with a box covered in gift wrap and said, "Martin, from now on, every time you are a brave little boy and go through this treatment, I will reward you with a new toy." Thus the Treasure Chest Foundation was born.
The Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation now serves more than 13,000 children and teens in 55 Children’s Cancer Treatment Centers across the nation every single month, including Denver Children's Hospital! With your support we can ensure that these brave kids can continue to receive their favorite toys for their courage!
