My Sissy Yvette's Fight

I'd like to start my sisters story by saying shes an amazing woman with courage and strength beyond belief...and only few may ever have the emotional and physical ability their entire life to fight for life as she has. We recently had to come closer together and encourge her to fight one of the most difficult battles of her young fragile life. She was diagnosed years ago with contracting Hep C from one of many blood transfusions she received during her battle with Auto immune hemolytic anemia. For those of you that aren't aware of what it is....
Auto Immune Hemolytic anemia (HEE-moh-lit-ick uh-NEE-me-uh) is a condition in which red blood cells are destroyed and removed from the bloodstream before their normal lifespan is over.
Red blood cells are disc-shaped and look like doughnuts without holes in the center. These cells carry oxygen to your body. They also remove carbon dioxide (a waste product) from your body.
Red blood cells are made in the bone marrow—a sponge-like tissue inside the bones. They live for about 120 days in the bloodstream and then die.
White blood cells and platelets (PLATE-lets) also are made in the bone marrow. White blood cells help fight infections. Platelets stick together to seal small cuts or breaks on blood vessel walls and stop bleeding.
When blood cells die, the body's bone marrow makes more blood cells to replace them. However, in hemolytic anemia, the bone marrow can't make red blood cells fast enough to meet the body's needs.
Autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) is a rare disease. In a recent population-based study1 the incidence was 0.8/100 000/year, but the prevalence is 17/100 000.
With that said, shes battled this disease since being diagnosed at the young age of 10 and continued to battle until she was in a sort of remission stage at age 15. During this time she spent countless days months and years in the hospial and clinics visiting every doctor imagineable. During the 80's when diagnosed mom was told this was one of the only cases known because of it being a rare disease. Keep in mind the doctors have always encouraged her to refrain from becoming pregnant for the fear of having potential complications and or children with special needs. With that said she dissregarded the opinions of doctors and continued on to have her 4 beautiful women and now has 3 beautiful grandchildren. Years later at the age of 30 after setteling down and now having her 4th child ,she began experiencing the many characteristics of the illness return, then soon after began treatment to help surpress the disease. As years passed the Hep C began to affect her liver with cirrhosis, which required her to become a recipient of a donor liver, she was blessed and tried her best to take care of herself. She's fought the last 5 years accepting every treatment possible to surpress the Hep C from destroying her new liver, but with little to no success, it's been difficult, her new liver has now been affected. Her new battle is now fighting for life.....we're saddened because of a medical necessity to have yet another surgery on April 1st 2015, which has now resulted in contracting VRE from the surgery" It's a bacteria thats resistant to antibiotics" This has now caused her kidneys to improperly function requiring dialysis in addition to everything, her body is extremely weak and the prognosis is very overwhelming for all of us.
So on behlf of all her family I'd like to thank you in advance for all the emotional support and prayers...This is truely a hard time in our lives because shes a special woman whos touched many...
We love you all but most of all we love our sister, daughter, mother, wife, aunt, and nonnie!!!
Please continue to keep us in prayer as we continue this difficult journey with her and pass on to whoever might be encouraged to support.
