SCFT Adjunct Relief Fund
Donation protected
We have heard often enough in the storm of the pandemic that we are all in this together. While it is true we are weathering the same storm, it is not true that we are doing so with equal means. We are in the same storm, but different boats. In fact, many of our colleagues are on the point of having their boats dashed on the rocks.
We need to provide life-vests to our colleagues in danger.
Enough of the metaphor, let me get to the point. Over 500 of our adjunct colleagues lost their jobs this semester because of the huge drop in enrollment. That’s nearly one-half of our adjuncts left with no income at all. At least half of the rest of our adjuncts have lost load. These folks have received stimulus money from the government but $1800 stretched out over nearly a year is just a drop in the bucket.
Meanwhile, many of us fortunate enough to be full-time have been able to save our stimulus money. Some of us have had to use it, true, but most of us could have done without it.
If you fall into that category, or if you have any money to give, we invite you to donate to SCFT’s Adjunct Relief Fund. Funds received between now and March 30th will be directly distributed to our impacted fellow members. Funds collected from April 1st on will be placed into our new Relief Fund CD.
Please consider donating some or even all of your stimulus money. Any donation, no matter the amount, will help our colleagues weather this storm.
