Yvonne & Elwood

Hi there! My name is Kelli and I'm looking to raise money for our neighbor Yvonne on behalf of our community here on Sergeant street. Yvonne has been my next door neighbor since I moved in 3 years ago and has lived in Kensington her entire life. If you live on Sergeant street - you know Yvonne. You can regularly find her collecting everyone's packages (so they don't get stolen), caring for the neighborhood cat (whom we call Sergeant Pepper) and making small talk with the community.

Yvonne recently lost her husband Elwood after an excruciating battle & months spent on hospice support. They had been married since Yvonne was 18 (now in her 70s) and from the stories she's told me, truly were each other's support system. Without any children or immediate family to support her through this transition, she has expressed concerns about handling the costs of the cremation, electrical work that needs to be done to the house & the day-to-day tasks (groceries, cleaning, etc) that need to continue while she grieves. Yvonne does so much to make this neighborhood feel like home for all of us and I hope to use this as an opportunity to give back to her.
