Yvonne’s Fight Against Ovarian Cancer

Update: This warrior has completed 2 cycles and is beginning cycle 3 today! She is a fighter and I know she can’t wait to feel like herself again!
My name Jennifer Caswell-Ortiz, my wife and mother of 2, Yvonne Ortiz was recently diagnosed with Pure Dysgerminoma (Ovarian Cancer). Her Journey began in April when an 11 inch mass was found during a CT scan; we thought we were just making sure she hadn’t cracked a rib during a dive for a softball. After being referred to an GYNO-ONC it was determined that the mass had grown from her left ovary and needed to be removed. So we took that in stride and her partial hysterectomy became a full when the quick freeze pathology report came back that it was cancerous. So we swallowed that pill and then pushed forward to where we are now awaiting port placement and her Chemotherapy regimen. We hadn’t planned for this outcome or the additional medical expenses. We are trying to keep life as normal as possible for our two young children while mentally and physically working through this tough time. My wife is a proud woman as am I, but as I was just recently reminded by someone close to me “We can’t do this alone and need to set our pride aside and ask for help if we need it.”! My wife has the biggest and most giving heart I’ve ever seen! We as a family always do everything we can for others expecting nothing in return just that some day they pay it forward as well. Please keep her in your prayers!
