If you're visiting, it's likely that Colin (or a person he loves) has touched your life in some way. Thank you for being a part of his support network. There are some challenges ahead for Colin, but luckily he has an amazing community behind him!
Colin's Story
As an eight-year-old boy, Colin was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma cancer and was given a low probability of survival. Against the odds, he pulled through - after extensive radiation and chemotherapy. In 1998 (almost 20 years after his first bought of cancer) it was discovered that Colin had a Meningioma brain tumor. He had three surgeries in Calgary to remove and de-bulk the mass, but with some growth occurring in the bone he would now live with a slow growing Meningioma. Colin returned home to Brandon and has lived a "manageable" life at a slower pace, while suffering from headaches and other symptoms. He lived happily and without complaint for years. Four summers ago Colin was diagnosed with Stage 4 Melanoma on his right cheek. He had successful surgery to remove it - scoring another point against cancer, his biggest opponent.
The Update
Most recent MRI images show that the tumor has grown significantly and moved into areas where it will be impossible to remove. Colin has had to significantly reduce his hours at work and his long term partner Danielle works overtime to cover costs.
Reaching Out
As close friends and family members, we are reaching out to Colin's community. His recent medical challenges, (including recovery time, medication, and travel related to appointments and surgeries) have put a financial strain on his household. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
The Colin we know hasn't had a single complaint and is smiling brightly, as always.
