Help Dora Fight Cancer

TO BE BRAVE IS TO CRY BUT TO STILL FIGHT ON

Hi, we are the Mendoza Girls (Ruby, Jessica, Margarita, Lisia and Yesenia). January of 2021, we

received the life-changing news that Mom, Dora Mendoza, had cancer. In the following days

and weeks, more tests were performed, and we ultimately received her cancer diagnosis,

advanced Stage IV Colorectal Cancer. The news hit us like a ton of bricks and fear began to

take up residence in our hearts. But, just like that, we were reminded by our mother that we

serve an awesome God. A sense of peace and hope filled our hearts, and this is where our fight

for Mom’s life began.

For the past 2 years, our mother has fearlessly been fighting this disease and it has not been

without its ups and downs, challenges, and disappointments. At one point, we believed she had

beaten cancer but shortly after that, we found out that the cancer had spread to not only the

lining of her abdomen but her liver and lungs as well. As of the latest imaging scans and labs, it appears

she no longer has the cancer in the lining of her abdomen, but the cancer that resides in her

liver and lungs is currently very active, and not responding to chemo treatment.

Mom just began an alternative form of treatment, just this week, through a facility here in

Houston which unfortunately is not covered by insurance. Many of our beloved friends and

family have reached out to us, wanting to help and you can do so through this fundraiser if you

feel so inclined. This is not something that our parents asked us to do but we are taking it upon

ourselves to help ease this financial burden for my parents.

Any money raised will be used to pay for treatment at the Burzynski clinic. Any amount you can contribute will be greatly appreciated, and if you aren't able to contribute money at this time, a share with your friends and family would mean the world to us as well.

Mom is a fighter who is not only fighting for her life, but she fights for her husband of 44yrs; she

fights for us (her daughters); she fights for her 9 grandchildren (the youngest just arrived

5/10/2023); she fights for the chance to see them grow up.
