Athena's Vet Bills

Recently, our 8 year old Pitbull/English Bulldog mix was taken to the emergency vet services after collapsing a few times at home with no other signs of abnormal behavior.

The vet determined that there is a mass (likely cancerous) on her liver or spleen that is causing anemia and making it very difficult for her to move around. They also said that they believe it is causing some internal bleeding and prescribed her three different medicines to try to reduce pain and to clot the blood.

Knowing that we couldn't afford the further testing and chemo treatment my parents decided that we would just do our best to make the rest of her time with us comfortable. She is still behaving like her normal self otherwise and has has some energy to get excited when we come home though it is typically short lived.

Her vet bill for the first visit alone was over $970.00 and the medications required to make her more comfortable in the remainder of her life are roughly $100.00 all together for a single order without any guarantee on how many more doses we will need.
