Days ago, Angela was diagnosed with advanced cancer. She needs immediate treatment. As you can imagine, we are all in a state of shock. It took 5 months to get a CT scan, and now there is zero time to waste. Writing this isn't easy for obvious reasons but also because Angela, who many of you know, has a lot of pride - and as much as she would give you the shirt off her back, she has trouble receiving a shirt.
If you know her, you'd know that Angela is an award-winning, multi-nominated actress who has dedicated her life to storytelling. If you don't know her, she's crossed your TV set or film screen many a time: 18 To Life, Hard Rock Medical, Working Moms. Maybe you know her from that infamous Bell commercial, as the voice of Sheriff Quint in 'Star Wars Outlaws' or Maxine in 'Dullsville and The Doodleverse'. A list of credits too long to list here as she has given much of her life to this industry, an industry that has fallen on some very hard times in the last few years with lockdowns and strikes - this extremely difficult news comes on those heels.
Maybe you know of her contributions behind the scenes, serving as an Actra Toronto councillor for two terms and as a VP. She was an Actra National Council member, sat on the negotiating team for the commercial agreement and lobbied on Parliament Hill. She's also an outspoken long-time advocate for the victims of sex trafficking, part of the FREE-THEM campaign and PSAs to raise awareness. Perhaps most importantly (and if you're part of her local community), you know her as the mamma of Lucky and Maggie, her beautiful fur babies, "her kids".
As I said, 5 months to get the CT scan, and because this is urgent, please forgive us if you are learning about it this way. If you have any questions, please dm me or Nahanni at @nahannijcreative.
I know you can imagine how painful, overwhelming, and scary it is to try and navigate treatment when you are struggling to make ends meet financially. We ask you to help by donating, to PLEASE SHARE this gofundme page, and we ask that you pray for her. There are no words to express our appreciation.
