Norm's Cancer Fight, Round 2
Donation protected
Norm Holton, husband, dad, son, friend, gourmet cook & sports enthusiast receives news he has mouth cancer. Having lived a clean lifestyle in the redwoods of Northern California, this is devastating! Norm's pleasures in life are preparing healthy, delicious food for family & friends & talking sports of all kinds.
Round 1. Part of his tongue is removed & a scar encircles his neck. He goes through intense treatment with radiation, loses his sense of taste & begins a slow recovery. (He finds humor, somehow, & says the scar is from a gang fight in his youth). He faces the challenges & is able to gradually reintroduce food he can eat without pain. Norm had a positive attitude. Cancer was in remission. UNTIL NOW. It has returned with a vengeance. The Cancer Center at Stanford University in Palo Alto is the recommendation. The best case scenario will involve removal of his tongue & an artificial flap grafted in its place so he can swallow! The family lives in Eureka, 6 hours or nearly 300 miles from Stanford. He can no longer work in the retail food industry. They live on his wife's teachers salary & have been able to adapt thus far. However, gas prices, lodging & related expenses following the surgery are overwhelming! PLEASE donate any amount, large or small, to help offset some of the cost. Your prayers are needed & appreciated. Change the "best case scenario" to "Norm can taste, swallow & talk once again". Thank you! for your generosity in the future of this family.
