Evan's Recovery
On the night of March 30th, Evan Jimenez, a freshman at San Pedro High School, was walking home from hanging out with some friends after playing baseball. He was approached by two men who questioned him about his gang involvement. When he told them he wasn't in a gang, they proceeded to assault him viciously.
Evan has been in the hospital since. He has been sedated and has a breathing tube. The doctors think he'll make a full recovery, but this is going to be a long, painful road. Evan suffered several broken bones in his face (the result of being hit repeatedly with a Jack Daniels bottle).
Evan, who wears #23, is a Junior Varsity baseball player at SPHS. In order to help support his mom, we are asking for any donations you might be able to afford. Total medical costs are not available yet, as he will likely be in the hospital for a while longer. We'd like to be able to give this money to the family within the next few weeks, to try to offset some of this financial burden.
Every dollar counts. Please help us support Evan and his family as he begins this road to recovery. I am one of the coaches of San Pedro High School, as well as a math teacher at the school. We will be releasing the money to his mother to help cover the medical expenses. She is a single mother, and they have minimal Covered California insurance.
