Near midnight on August 23rd 2021, DRUM member and food delivery worker Tarek Aziz died after making a food delivery. There was construction being done on the road near intersection of Fountain Avenue and Seaview Avenue in Brooklyn, and the construction site was left unmarked and with a dangerous hole. In the dark, Tarek was not able to see the construction site, and he fell into a large hole in the street. As he fell, he hit his head which led to his death a couple of days later. DRUM worked with Noakhali Shomity to arrange his funeral, and to have Tarek's body sent back to Bangladesh.
Tarek signed up as a DRUM member a week before his passing.
Since Tarek's death, his brother has stopped working as a delivery worker responding to the fears of the family. Another of Tarek's brother was deported back to Bangladesh a few months ago after living here for 20 years. Tarek was a major contributor to family's income. 100% of donations will go directly to supporting Tarek's family both here and in Bangladesh whom he supported financially through his food delivery work.
Tarek is one of the many delivery workers who have lost their lives while on the job.
Join us in supporting his loved ones during this difficult time.
