Help give kids in Armenia Christmas this year '22
Donation protected
Hello friends! I invite you all to join me once again in giving kids from Armenia toys and a party for Christmas this year. Last year we were able to reach 140 children, but given the increase in need, this year we have raised this to 203 kids.
The 2020 war caused immense hardships for many families in Armenia. Over a hundred thousand people were displaced and many families who were living in Armenia before the war were also impacted as fathers who went to the front line never returned. The hostilities during September 2022 have left another 2,500 families displaced. As of November 1, 2022, approximately 24,000 civilians who fled hostilities are still living in shelters in Armenia and many more are living in very poor conditions. Sadly, a large number of these families will have no way to give their children a Christmas this year.
I have reached out to ForYouNgo in the region of Masis, Armenia where many families are still in shelters, and with their logistical support and coordination, at the end of December we will put together two Christmas parties (approximately 100 kids at each), where children from disadvantaged homes will attend and receive a Christmas present. There will be food, drinks, music, games and other Christmas activities on each day. Best of all, the kids will also get a special guest visit from Santa Claus who will be flying in just for them! To ensure everything runs smoothly, I will personally be going to Armenia where I will buy the presents and distribute them to the kids on the two party days.
Those who donate will get a private zoom meeting invite where they can join the festivities remotely. The two parties will be on December 15 and 18, from 11:00 AM -3:30 PM Armenia time, so 2:00 AM - 6:30 AM Toronto time.
My goal is to raise $7,200 Canadian ($5,400 USD) to do this. I ask that you join me and donate in support. Upon purchase and delivery, I will post photos of receipts and the distribution to give you peace of mind that your money was honestly spent. Being a Chartered Professional Accountant and having spent a number of years earlier on in my career as an auditor, I completely understand the importance of providing an audit trail of money donated and spent.
I thank you for your support and an early wish for a very Happy Holiday Season to you all!
