Learning Is Fun

This program is so dear to many.  Please help Oak Park Preschool to continue encouraging the love for learning and building educational success in the lives of children at an early age.

Learning is Fun is a project of the Oak Park Preschool Inc. located in the Oak Park Community of Sacramento, California.  This project has assisted hundreds of children over the past fifty-three (53) years to prepare and make a smooth transition from early learning to kindergarten.  This program serves a diverse population of children in an economic disadvantaged neighborhood encouraging higher education at an early age to reduce the high school dropout rate.  As a result we take pride in the number of preschool graduates who return to enroll their children.

Although the community is going through gentrification, it is important that we maintain programs that continue to support lower income families.   Parents enrolling their children in Oak Park Preschool are working, looking for work, or participating in an educational/training program.  The program also includes a half day school year program for children of families who are recommended by social agencies.  Oak Park Preschool encourages and promotes total family involvement and reinforcement by working with and helping parents in numerous ways of assisting in their children 's cognitive development.  Working with a well trained staff, children develop their minds and bodies through active learning situations.  Children learn through a caring, developmental approach to make discoveries, explore, solve problems and develop social and intellectual skills.  Specifically, they develop readiness skills, self-esteem, and executive functioning skills that promote long term life success.

     Academic Enrichment
     Kindergarten Awareness Program
     Computers and Tablets
     Field Trips
     Supporting behavior patterns through art therapy
     Annual Art Show

Oak Park Preschool Incorporated was one of the first preschools established in Sacramento in 1966 as a volunteer community service project of Eta Gamma Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.  In 1973, Oak Park Preschool was granted non-profit status by the IRS under Section 501 (c) (3).  After fifty-three years, the preschool program continues to make a difference in the lives of many children.  Oak Park Preschool II, a second facility opened on October 1, 2017 in the Dr. Ephraim Williams Family Life Center at the St. Paul Baptist Church.  The preschool endeavors to provide a wholesome educational experience  for all of its enrollees who reside in the Oak Park Community and beyond within Sacramento, CA.

Please help us to continue meeting the educational needs of these children.  Donations in any amount will help make an impact.  The preschool operates on a very low budget.   The California Department of Education is the main fiscal support of the program and is subsidized by family fees applied on a sliding scale.  The school must also depend on individual donations.  The money raised will help Oak Park Preschool Inc. to meet educational needs to complete the 2018-2019 school year and begin the 2019-2020 school year.
