The City of Lodi Police Department is implementing a K9 program and looking for your help!
Police K9’s are instrumental in assisting officers with search and rescue along with helping to curtail the trafficking of illegal narcotics.
The City of Lodi holds a zero tolerance approach to illegal drug activity in and around our city, the addition of a Police K9 will be a great added resource to help keep our city safe. Our officers are committed to providing you with the best possible service and believe the implementation of this particular K9 will be a great addition to our agency and city to help us continue our service to you.
She has already been obedience trained, and will now begin a process of being cross trained in search and rescue along with narcotics detection.
The search and rescue portion of her training will be a wonderful asset to our officers to assist with finding lost children, at risk missing adults and many other rescue type operations. The narcotics training speaks for itself as we all know that many communities are struggling with an influx of illegal opiates, this program will be treasured tool to help curtail illegal activity.
The K9 we are purchasing is a Labrador Retriever and extremely social, she recently turned 3 years old and was originally slated to be a therapy dog. She has so much spunk and drive that the kennel decided that her best fit would be in a police type agency. We were very lucky to have found her when we did!
We have received a gracious anonymous donation to purchase her but there are continued ongoing costs involved with this program. A decision was made to reach out to our community to help fund the program in order to alleviate a burden on the tax base.
