Help Brent Reclaim Life from Post-Concussion Syndrome

Donation protected
Hello sweet friends and family,

I’m reaching out today with humility and hope. For nearly three years, I’ve been battling an invisible yet life-altering condition known as post-concussion syndrome (PCS). This journey has been a rollercoaster, filled with challenges and lessons, but today, I’m asking for your support to help me take a major step toward recovery.

What Is Post-Concussion Syndrome?

Post-concussion syndrome is a complex disorder where concussion symptoms—such as headaches, dizziness, and cognitive difficulties—persist for weeks, months, or even years after the initial injury. It’s more than just lingering discomfort; it can profoundly disrupt a person’s life, affecting their physical health, mental clarity, and emotional well-being.

My Concussion Story:

Three years ago, a simple act of loading my luggage into the back of an SUV changed everything. I hit my head on the partially open door while in the midst of a migraine, a perfect storm. This seemingly minor incident spiraled into a nightmare as my brain, already vulnerable from years of migraines, struggled to recover.

In the months that followed, I developed a host of debilitating symptoms invisible to the eye:

Visual Motion Sensitivity – A constant struggle with light, glare, and visual stimuli. I feel like I am always on a rocking boat.
Tinnitus – An chronic ringing in my ears.
Visual Snow Syndrome – A static-like distortion of my vision.
Brain Fog and Fatigue – Persistent mental cloudiness and exhaustion, making even simple tasks feel overwhelming and draining my ability to focus or think clearly.

Each new symptom layered onto the last, leaving me feeling trapped in my own body.

Why Cognitive FX?

After countless hours of research and consultations, I found a clinic that offers real hope: Cognitive FX (CFX) in Provo, Utah. This clinic is a leader in treating post-concussion syndrome, using cutting-edge neurorehabilitation methods. They’ve helped over 2,000 patients reclaim their lives, and I’m confident they can help me too.

CFX’s mission aligns perfectly with my goal: to not only manage my symptoms but to return to the vibrant, driven person I was before my injury.

My Hope for the Future:

Life has slowed down in many ways, but it hasn’t stopped. Despite the challenges, I'm managing my symptoms and I’ve rediscovered the strength to keep moving forward. I dream of returning full bodied to the work and passions that define me:

Architecture: My life’s calling. Designing spaces that inspire and serve communities is my way of giving back.

Music: Joining a chorus was a lifeline during this journey. Through the music, I’ve found joy, friendship, connection, and healing.

Family and Friends: My greatest support system and source of love. They’ve been my anchor through this journey, reminding me of the importance of connection, laughter, and the strength we find in each other. They’re not just part of my healing process, they are the heart of who I am. My relationships inspire me to heal and to give back with the same kindness and support I’ve received.

With your help, I believe I can return to these passions fully and offer more of myself to the world.

How You Can Help:

The cost of treatment at Cognitive FX is significant and insurance is not covering a lot of it, and that’s why I’m asking for your help. Every donation, no matter the size, will bring me closer to reclaiming my life at this clinic and continued rehab after.

Your support means the world to me, whether through a contribution, through prayer or inspiring note, or by sharing my story with others.

My Promise to You:

Your support—whether through a donation, sharing this campaign, or offering words of encouragement—means the world to me. I want you to know that you’ll be with me every step of the way on this journey. Here’s how I promise to stay connected and give back to you:

Regular Updates:

While I’m at Cognitive FX, I’ll keep you updated on my progress through social media, sharing my experiences on Instagram and Facebook.

Journals and Reflections:

I’ll share personal journal entries that capture my thoughts, challenges, and triumphs throughout the process.

Photography and Video Documentation:

I’ll document my journey visually, giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what treatment entails. From daily routines to milestone moments, you’ll be right there with me.

Sharing What I Learn:

I’ve already learned so much about the brain’s incredible ability to adapt and heal, known as neuroplasticity. Cognitive FX emphasizes lifestyle changes that promote brain health, and I’m excited to bring those lessons back to you. Whether it’s tips on mindfulness, exercises for mental resilience, or simple habits that support well-being, I’ll share actionable insights that could benefit your life too.

Community of Healing:

Through this journey, I want to create a space where we can support each other. Your role in my healing journey inspires me, and I hope my updates and insights will offer value to you in return.

Together, we can give my life a new chapter—one filled with hope, healing, and a future where I can thrive again.

With gratitude and love,
Brent
