A Journey to Recovery (Dr. Kilolo)
Donation protected
Dear Family & Friends,
As many of you know, my mom Dr. Kilolo Ajanaku (Formerly Brenda Walker), has been battling breast cancer over the past 2 years. This past January, she was hospitalized for a few weeks and was unable to work for 3 months. While we completely appreciate all of our family and friends who have pulled together to reduce the burden physically, financially and emotionally, we are still in need for support to get her back on track.
Over the next couple of months she will continue chemotherapy and bone transfusions, which make it hard for her to work consistently. Additionally, she is having a tough time in her current home which is inaccessible for her health challenges.
We are seeking donations to assist with getting her into a more accessible housing unit, along with catching her up on some of the bills she accumulated while only receiving 60% of her pay. We would also like to ensure she can cover any missed time at work for appointments through the course of her treatment. The doctors are estimating that may last through the end of the summer.
While I will be helping my mom manage her finances, any donations will go DIRECTLY to her costs.
Thank you so much for considering this request and please contact me for more info.

On January 21, 2017, National Holiday for Dr. Martin Luther King, JR. I underwent a biopsy of a lump that was found in my right axillary lymph node. A couple weeks later, I learned that the lump contained cancer cells. The Oncologist to whom I had been referred, ruled no other cancer cells were found in my body, including my breast; however, she advised the standard course of action was “double mastectomy, followed by radiation and chemo and referred me to a surgical oncologist. I chose to learn more about the breast cancer and my options and sought help from two of my sisters who had training in the medical research and technology fields.
Over the next year and half, I learned immensely about natural healing of the body through alternative medicines and was treated by a very caring Medical Doctor who only practices holistic health. I got in touch with my mind, body and spirit and just felt great! Unfortunately, the lump had not dissolved and had metastasized to my right femur bone, requiring me to undergo surgery to remove the cancer cells. I now am being treated by an Oncologist with extensive research in breast cancer, who confirmed the kind and nature of the cancer cells in my body. I am receiving DNA counseling and testing to determine if the cancer is hereditary and being treated with a combination of two antibodies to stop the growth of the cancer with a low dose of chemo to kill the cells. My prognosis looks good, and I am hopeful a decision will be made to stop the chemo by the end of the summer.
