You can't walk when your legs are broken, you can't roll when your wheelchair is broken.
On September 21st, 2012, I fell asleep at the wheel heading to work one afternoon after school. I flipped Betsy ^ the green Nissan Frontier and was ejected 30ft. I broke my back (which severed my spinal cord and brings us to the struggles of today), my femur came through my leg, both hands and ribs broke, and both lungs collapsed. I spend 8 days in ICU at the University of Louisville before I got transferred to Frazier Rehab. I spent a little over a month there relearning how to function without the use of my legs.
Now I'm almost 3 years post injury & my first wheelchair is breaking. The back rest pops out of place, my center of gravity needs to be adjusted and many more fixes. My wheelchair is essential to my way of life now and a new one is costly- but so worth it. I started a GoFundMe to try to ask for help because I don't have the money to buy one straight out. Any donation is appreciated so much. Even if you can't donate, please share. I need new wheels!
